• Clean the garage door tracks and lubricate the mechanism
• Inspect the garage for cracks or gaps where pests and water enter — seal with caulk or foam

Phase Three: Organize for Texas Conditions

• Never store anything in cardboard boxes — use plastic bins with lids in our climate
• Mount items on walls and ceiling whenever possible — floor space stays clear for parking and projects
• Install adjustable shelving — it adapts as your storage needs change
• Keep chemicals, paints, and flammables in a dedicated cabinet away from the water heater
• Position frequently used items at accessible height and seasonal items on higher shelves
• Label every bin and shelf section — organization only works when everyone in the family can maintain it

A clean, organized garage stays that way with two simple habits: put items back where they belong after every use, and do a quick 15-minute sweep and sort once per month. These two habits are the difference between a garage that stays organized and one that returns to chaos within three months.
